On the easel...a breakthrough! 05/29/2008
Well, I thought I would give everyone an update on what is currently on the easel! I have been working on my continuing Juarez, Mexico series with a painting of a young girl and her sister that I came across while attempting to find a public restroom. She was sitting outside the restroom on the ground combing her baby sisters hair and trying to wash her with intermittent sneaks into the restroom for water. I was very touched by her caresses, and paid her to take some photos of her. Of course, that is why she was there in the first place, to prepare to beg and scrap for what she could during the day. I have been working on this for quite a while now, and about two months ago hit a block...just couldn't bring myself to put brush to the canvas. I don't know if it is because it is one of the largest canvases I have worked on to date, or if I just wasn't ready. I kept staring at her, talking to her...but just didn't feel like I was ready to do her justice...that is until last night! I prepared a new palette and put on some soothing music...and before I knew it 4 hours were gone. Now I'm back at it, and will hope to continue to bring her to life to share with you all. You can catch glimpses of her sitting on the easel in the home page video. Who knows, it might be fun to take pictures along the way from this point forward and let you in on the various sessions as I work on the painting...I'll see what I can do! ![]() Ahhh...here we go. Here is a photo of where we are today. You can see that I have their faces blocked in, and will now work in more detail. I will also start next on their hands...Hands are hard! However, that is what I have been thinking about...so...hands it is... Memorial Day Finally Brings Spring! 05/27/2008
I hope all had a great LONG weekend! The weather finally cooperated here...it has really been sucky! I took some time to smell the flowers, and watch the dogs smile in the sun! Check out the video, take a deep breath, and take the beauty throughout all your day! Enjoy! Cagney King...Super Hero! 05/22/2008
Well...I have been very busy...I have saved a duck family of 10 from becoming road kill, and have finished a You Tube video for the home page! Hear me roar! I have been collecting your e-mails, and feel like I am finally getting somewhere with this site! ![]() The duck story picks up as mama duck and her 7 ducklings are now safely out of the street...but what's that? Mama duck still seems rather freaked out! And what do I hear, but more sounds of distress...coming from the sewer grate! Oh no! 3 more babies have fallen into the nasty underground...I must intervene! The street department must be called! Alas, the nice man from the sewer maintenance division comes to our rescue. Meanwhile, mama duck looks on nervously...but, I think I see a wave of trust come over her as we make eye contact. I assure her that we are all doing everything we can, and she must stay strong! Finally, the sewer grate is pryed off, and the sun beams down on the poor babies. A bucket is lowered into the ground, and one by one the babies are rescued. I gently scoop each one out of the bucket and reunite them with the mama duck. After I place the last duckling with it's mother, again I make eye contact with her, and what do I see? But a small tear of thanks streaming down her little face and bill. "I don't know if we'll ever meet again," I say, "but God speed to you and your babies! Oh and by the way - I'm going to be in the local newspaper!" So all is well, I earned a few heaven points, and the sun keeps shining! Coming together! 05/20/2008
Well, the website is coming along! Thanks to everyone who has offered some suggestions for content! I will next be working on getting some photography of my latest works to put into the 07+ Gallery. So...stay tuned! I have some good ideas brewing...I just hope I'm not too technically challenged to get them up and going! If anyone has some kick ass ideas for a different and fun kind of home page...let me know! That is a tough one! ![]() Here is a picture of me in my new studio at our grand opening! We had over 2000 people come to the show in which I was the featured artist! WOW! I couldn't believe it. It was a great night! Studio 8 is a great place to hang out, and all the other artists are very cool, and I LOVE talking art with everyone. The historic building (National Road Creative Arts & Events Center - built in 1895) is a fabulous place to be. If you are ever in the neighborhood...stop by! The Creative Arts & Event Center is located in Greenfield, Indiana at the corner of State and Main, right across from City Hall. (2 West Main Street). While you are visiting, be sure to stop into the old fashioned soda fountain for a yummy treat! My FIRST post! 05/15/2008
Thank you for stopping in! I am in the process of putting this website together, and promise to keep diligently working on it, as many people are anxious to see what is coming off the old easel these days! Stay tuned...I am working on it, and will promise to share some fun new stuff that I have been working on in Studio 8! |
