      I Need YOUR Vote! 11/07/2008

So here is what happens. I get ideas for paintings...and I mean ALL the time...so, I get excited about the next painting idea. No matter what I am working on, I stop and go in a different direction and get started on the idea - after all, I don't want to forget it right?...then perhaps I will work on that for a while...then...I'll HAVE to start another idea. You get the idea. And so it goes and goes.

So at this particular moment in time...I am feeling overwhelmed! I want to paint - bad. As a matter of fact, when i can't paint it is just bad for everyboday. But, I'm not sure which one to paint - or...maybe I should start on a new one...oh, wait...no, no, no...sorry - forgot what I was doing...oh hell, maybe I shouldn't paint any of them...well, I guess YOU get to help me decide.

So here is my idea. In the spirit of the elections...I took pictures of 6 paintings that are in various stages of completion so that I can let all of you out there in Cagney Fan Land VOTE on which one I should stay focused on and FINISH (Just 6...not ALL of them  - that would be too much! Remember, we are already overwhelmed!)

You will all have one week to vote, so that at the next Artists Open Studio Event - November 14th - I will announce AND display the winning "For the love of God Cagney FOCUS!" painting on my main easel. And the following week I will post the winning painting with comments.

So...here we go - here are the candidates! They are in no particular order, and have temporary titles. To vote just hit on the comment link at the top, or if you want to have a confidential vote go to the e-mail tab and send me your vote!

On behalf of my temporary sanity...thank you for your vote!

      1. Jump Anatomy

      2. Keep it Clean

      3. Juarez Girls

      4. Well Worn Poem

      5. Pears

      6. Pulling Through

I'd Like to see how they all turn out, but if I had to narrow it down, my two favs are Jump Anatomy and Keep It Clean. Now...I'd really like to see where they both go...but...My final choice is - Jump Anatomy.

Well Worn Poem gets my vote! I love it already. A close second is "Pulling Through" which I saw in progress at the Fountain Square Art Fair and lest your focus gets frazzled I think you shall finish this one too! AND it was great seeing you at Wug's last evening. Thanks for coming out and especially for making me laff. Rachel had a great show, I was so happy for her. See U soon.

I think you should start another one - you only have 6 unfinished? Remember the quote (Mr. van Rijn, I think) "the unfinished sketch is always a potential masterpiece" you said once that "pulling through" might be done.

I think Pulling Through. Juarez Girls would be next, but it's at a "tedious stage" It's mostly done, but just those little fill in "thingys". It's hard for me to go back, I want to move on. I like Keep It Clean, also. When Marvin was working on the plumbing for the shower, the access panel is in my sewing room. It had 100 yr. old pipes plus some newer. Then where the room had been painted several times it had almost a frame around it. I took several shots of it. I may go back to it some day.

Ok, well I can think of a lot of reasons I would like to see all of them completed. But, I have to say, I think the one that holds the most possibility for a surprise ending is "Keep It Clean." So that one gets my vote! :-)

I am 98% Artist (110% at heart - but bad at math) and 2% human being. I keep working hard in the hopes that one day my art story will be like the great artist fairytale. You know the one - the one about how the poor, struggling artist rocking on the edge of insanity is toiling away in her studio day after day, when one day a handsome person comes to see her work, and decides that she should be rescued. From that day on they pay her to paint, pimp out her work and buy her beer. Everyone lives happily ever after.
        That...would be cool.
Until then...I'll just keep trying to put square pegs in round holes.
