Wow! I can’t believe how time flies! Tonight is the Artist Reception for my held over show at Wug Laku’s Studio & Garage Gallery. I’m very excited – and nervous as usual – and looking forward to an evening of talking about my art and showing my paintings.

I am flattered and overwhelmed by the response, and to think the show is being held over to accommodate more visitors and attention…just awesome!

Hope you can make it out to Downtown Indianapolis tonight for the Downtown Gallery Walk! The weather looks like it is going to be very cooperative and will make your visit even more enjoyable!

Stop in and say hello! As a reminder – wUG LAKU’S Studio & gARAGE is located off of 10th Street at 1125 Brookside Avenue – it will be a fun time! Don’t miss it if you are around!

Mr. Juarez Bass Man - 35x70'
On the easel – I have been also trying to find time to paint in Studio! Here is a little peak at a painting that is nearly finished. Just working on some details and will soon be calling it done! It is probably the next to last painting in my Juarez, Mexico portrait series. The painting is 35x70”. Drop me a line and let me know what you think! I am planning on putting a little video together when all finished to show you the journey up to this point – so be on the look out for that! (I know, I know! So much excitement and fun stuff coming your way!)

Summer is flying by, and I know that makes most people sad, but I have to say that I’m pretty happy about it. When the weather is crappy, and the wind, snow and rain are blowing, I do seem to spend a great deal more time in studio working. After all that is what bad weather is for in my mind, and I don’t have to invent reasons or excuses like – I think I’m developing an allergy to grass and air; or my oxygen level is too high and I need to be in a small room with tubes of sealed paint to help balance it out; or to keep my tolerance level for turpentine and gesso ingestion high I need to subject myself to it in large doses.

Right now however, tins of fizzy pop out on the deck with the great weather, family and friends are winning out over studio time…then there’s the yard work…ugh. (I refer to yard work as the dark evil force in my life that makes me question liberty and freedom and if it really exists on the other side.) But have no fear…I do have several projects – as usual – in store and in my mind to keep me busy! And to answer some e-mail inquiries – YES – cement will be involved! There is no going back now!

Well, I’ll leave off for now…I have a show to get ready for! So I better get to hopping! Speaking of hopping…my miniature Doxie – Dylan – killed a rabbit in the yard today. I hope that is a sign of nature in action and not an omen that I will be visited by the yard work devil soon.

Stay tuned and be sure to check in next week for the next installment of Cagney King – Artist in Residence on WHBU radio show.

Rock on everybody!

I have already gotten some e-mails and comments on the interview and have connected with some new friends from this experience…so much fun! Don’t forget to e-mail me and let me know what you think!

In other news…This just in! Cagney King wins 1st and 3rd place overall in the Mixed Media category of the Will Vawter Art Competition! Poetry Pants came in 1st and Signals came in 3rd. It was a great show, and there were many great artists there, so I am very proud to have ‘stuck out in the crowd’ so to speak. I also had an opportunity at the Artist’s Reception to talk to several people about my work, and the feedback was tremendous.

Speaking of interviews. The Indianapolis Star came and interviewed me in my studio for the upcoming Show – Cagney@Wug’s! They did a photo shoot of me with my work and in my studio, as well as a video interview! Wow…it was awesome. As soon as I can get links to the on-line video, I will of course post here. If you are a subscriber to the Indy Star, I believe the photo and release will be in Wednesday or Thursdays edition. Check out the Metro section and the go sections.

Well, I have a show to put on, so I better get hoppin!
Until next time, ROCK ON!

Hello (hello -hello (insert echo effect here) out there! Been a while since we chatted! Don't be sore with me, I have been very busy in Studio working on some new work and getting ready for my next show! After all, I have to paint! It is what I do! (...and if I don't then small animals and wildlife are sacrificed) I have been exploring new textures and letting myself be taken on a journey with my new work...and boy what a ride it has been. I want to share it with you all and am excited to do so, so let me take a few minutes aside to personally invite you all to my next show! The show will be at Wug Laku's Studio & Garage Gallery and will be part of First Friday in downtown Indianapolis! So that will be Friday, July 3rd! I'm so excited to be working with Wug and Nancy, and thrilled at the prospect of getting into a gallery in Indianapolis! Please plan to come! Of course I will send out reminders and will keep bugging you to come! The gallery is right off of Mass Ave in Indianapolis at the Circle Center Industrial Complex. So very cool!

OK - to keep you busy while you wait for my next show, I have posted below the next in the continuing series of radio interviews as WHBU's Artist in Residence. Please take a listen and enjoy!

Also, be sure to visit the Cagney Links page as you will see a new link to a Wikizine that I started. I plan to write articles about my paintings and go into more depth regarding each painting journey. How is a Wikizine different than a blog you ask? Well, truth be known, I have no idea in hell. I just know that it was highly recommended that I give this a try...so I'm going for it! If the idea of a Wikizine scares you, I have posted portions of the articles as part of my Journal entry series, so you can stay right here in Cagneyland and enjoy the jist of it there.

Keep the comment love coming! Really, really...I love you long time! Licky-licky $5 for sure!

Until next time - ROCK ON!

Hello Everyone!

First of all, I want to send a big THANK YOU for everyone that came to my show - E2= Eclectic Emergence! The show has been a big success I think, and the feedback and support has been overwhelming! Including a wonderful write-up from a great writer at the Examiner.com - an on-line newspaper. You can check out Erin Swanson's article 'bout 'lil ol' me right here->(Link to Cagney Examiner.com Article).

I have also posted pictures from the event night, you can see those here -> (Link to Event Night Photos).

And...to keep you busy...I have also posted my new work that debuted at the show, it is now posted in the 2009 Gallery!

Whew! So you say...yeah, yeah, yeah Cagney...that is all good, but what is on the easel? Well since you asked! Yes, I have started a new painting, I have also been working on designing my own stencils, and am continuing to toil away at existing work that is in various phases as well.

To be honest with you all...I took a few days off and did NOTHING! ...and...I was miserable...so...I'm jumping back in and will post pics soon. In the meantime here is a picture of the new painting at phase one!

Aw hell...it's a start anyway!

So that is what's on the easel. It's 50x40, so she has some size behind her. I have the charcoal drawing done and am ready to start in with painting.

Well, I have given you quite a bit to chew on for a while, I'll leave you with that! Don't forget you can follow me on twitter at twitter.com/cagneyartist! You can also keep up with my latest 'tweets' over in the right hand column. You can also visit the Cagney Links page to see what else I've been up to.
